6th Annual Memorial Festival & Open Car Show

To Our Friends in the Community:

The Memorial Festival Committee, sponsored by the San Antonio Police Officers’ Association would like to invite you to participate in the 6th Annual Memorial Festival and Open Car Show as a donor or sponsor. The festival is a benefit event to raise money for the families of officers killed in the line of duty. The purpose of the Memorial Festival is to create a fun-filled day for the children, families and friends of fallen officers to share with the community. It is an opportunity for the community and friends of SAPD survivor families to show them that they are not forgotten. The San Antonio Police Officer’s Association Benefit Fund is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization and solely survives with individual, business/corporate donations.

Primarily, funds raised are to support the family of any fallen SAPD officer when their name is placed on the national memorial wall. During the month of May, National Police Week is an annual event in Washington D.C. The National Memorial Wall of Fallen Officers is updated at this time. The survivor families may not be prepared financially or otherwise for such a momentous occasion. Past survivors have expressed that the hardships surrounding this time can be overwhelming. Our committee is dedicated to ease any logistics and financial concerns of our survivors and to express our support beyond the Memorial Festival itself.

Going into our 6th annual event, the Memorial Festival Committee is proud to announce that the event will also be funding the Survivor Family Christmas Dinner. The dinner is an annual gathering hosted by the SAPD Family Assistance Team and the Office of the Chief.

The 6th Annual Memorial Festival will be held on March 4, 2017 at the San Antonio Police Academy Grounds, (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The grounds will be open to the public! Areas available will include a cultural/ historical area (volunteer organizations in the community), children’s play area (bounce houses, games) raffle, food booths, vendors (t-shirts, arts, crafts) and a car show on the police driving track. Guests may purchase tickets for rides and games or an all-day pass. Sponsorship and donations are also welcome for a raffle, children’s games and events throughout the day. Vehicles participating in the car show may do so for a $25 donation. You may help by contributing as a sponsor, with raffle prizes or by contributing materials for the event.

Flags will be flown over the event at the SAPD Academy grounds. The colors will be posted by the SAPD Honor Guard and Boy Scouts. The highest donors/sponsors will be presented these memorial flags encased with the event logo.

This is a unique opportunity for the citizens of San Antonio and surrounding areas, current SAPD officers and the survivor families to celebrate family and community. We are asking for your support to make this event a continued success and give the survivor families a way to remember their loved one in a positive and fun environment.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
