Julius Alberson

Patrolman Alberson was attempting to arrest five persons charged with disturbing the peace. In the 500 block of East Commerce Street the offenders managed to disarm Alberson, shot him with his own pistol, and fled the scene. Patrolman Alberson, the first black SAPD officer to die in the line of duty, had been on the Department less than ten months, and was 29 years of age at the time of his death.
