The San Antonio Police Officers’ Association (SAPOA) is thrilled to announce their participation in the 33rd annual San Antonio Holiday River Parade. The parade theme this year is Holiday Celebrations Around the World in an effort to promote unity among the many cultures that make up our great city. Fittingly so, the Grand Marshall of the parade will be local philanthropist, Gordon Hartman. You will see 28 professionally decorated floats, all featuring live entertainment. The parade will be televised nationally in HD with the parade media partner KABB/News 4/CW. Broadcast in 72 markets nation-wide, the San Antonio River Parade becomes the nation’s river parade! The colorful, twinkling lights along the River Walk, all 85,000 of them, will illuminate at 7:00PM and then the parade will begin!
Blue Cares, the community outreach arm of SAPOA, is proud to be one of the of the parade sponsors. With an elaborate and shimmery float, SAPOA will be highlighting its Blue Cares division and it’s holiday program, “Blue Santa”. It is of utmost importance to our men and women in Blue to let the San Antonio community know that, in addition to serving and protecting our citizens, they also care about the people. Through Blue Cares, San Antonio police are here for you, both on and off the job.
The Paseo del Rio Association’s signature event takes place the Friday following Thanksgiving each year (this year – Nov 28). The Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony is one of the favorite events in San Antonio, attended by over 150,000 locals and visitors. Watch for the Blue Cares Float!
