STATEMENT FROM SAPOA PRESIDENT ON EXECUTIVE ORDER
San Antonio, TX, June 16, 2020 – Michael Helle, President of the San Antonio Police Officer’s Association (SAPOA) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s release of the White House “Executive Order on Safe Policing for Safe Communities.”
“We support the goals of the President through his Executive Order and appreciate that it balances the critical need for public and officer safety and the equally important role for meaningful ways to improve policing in our country. The Order lays out a number of positive initiatives that will help ensure clear and high policing standards, promote accountability, and give police officers more tools to constructively engage the community. We hope that officials, at all levels, will consult and work with law enforcement on any reform legislation as we all share the same goal: making our officers and the public we protect, safer.”
